From 17 October 2024, Velocity is reducing all lead-in base fare Reward Seat prices for new one-way domestic economy class Reward Seat bookings on Virgin Australia. In addition to the Velocity Points price, taxes, fees and carrier charges are payable. For more information on the pricing, see website for details. The quoted domestic redemption fare is the lowest base fare Reward Seat pricing available from 17 October 2024 onwards. Points value for the quoted domestic redemption fares is based on Sydney to Melbourne domestic one-way Economy Reward Seat fare with Virgin Australia and must be booked on the Virgin Australia website and selecting “Use Points”. Taxes, fees and carrier charges are payable in addition to Velocity Points redeemed. Carrier charges apply for Reward Seat bookings on flights operated by Virgin Australia. 2. From 21 January 2025, the base fare for non-lead-in Reward Seat prices for Domestic and the base fare for Short-Haul International bookings available on new one-way domestic economy class Reward Seat bookings on Virgin Australia are changing. In addition to the Velocity Points price, taxes, fees and carrier charges are payable. For more information on the pricing, see website for details. 3. Any voluntary changes (by you) to Reward Seats ticketed up to 20 January 2025 will, from 21 January 2025 require cancellation and refund (if applicable) of the original ticket. Any new International Partner Airline Reward Seat ticketed from 21 January 2025 will be according to the new Points redemption table.
4.Members earn Velocity Points on eligible domestic and international short haul flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia, marketed by Virgin Australia and operated by Link Airways, or marketed by Virgin Australia and operated by Air New Zealand (with a VA flight number) calculated using the 'Points per dollar spent on the All-Inclusive Fare' method at a rate of 5 Velocity Points per dollar spent for bookings made before 2 April 2025 and at a rate of 4 Velocity Points per dollar spent for bookings made on or after 2 April 2025. The ‘All Inclusive Fare’ includes base fare, taxes (including GST), fees and carrier charges and excludes seat selection purchase and other extras, such as Economy X, Preferred Seating, Baggage Allowance and Carbon Offset. Members may be eligible to earn additional Velocity Points on eligible flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia, marketed by Virgin Australia and operated by Link Airways, or marketed by Virgin Australia and operated by Air New Zealand (with a VA flight number) in connection with other offers.
5. From 2 April 2025, Velocity members may earn Velocity Points for eligible Virgin Australia domestic and international short haul flights (including Virgin Australia marketed and operated flights, flights operated by Link Airways and Alliance Airlines for Virgin Australia, Virgin Australia marketed and Link Airways operated flights, and Virgin Australia marketed and Air New Zealand operated flights) at the following rates: (i) 4 Base Points per $1 spent, and (ii) 5 Base Points per $1 spent if you are an eligible Velocity Points earning credit cardholder. For bookings made before 2 April 2025, Velocity members may earn 5 Base Points per $1 spent for eligible Virgin Australia domestic and international short haul flights (including Virgin Australia marketed and operated flights, flights operated by Link Airways and Alliance Airlines for Virgin Australia, Virgin Australia marketed and Link Airways operated flights, and Virgin Australia marketed and Air New Zealand operated flights).
The ‘Base Points’ refers to the minimum number of Points that can be earned by a Red member when flying with Virgin Australia.
An eligible Velocity Points earning credit cardholder is a Velocity member who has a complete Velocity member profile (i.e., they can log into their Velocity account online and have provided us with all the necessary information to complete their profile) and has earned Points (as a primary credit cardholder) with their eligible Velocity Points earning credit card from spend in the 12 months prior to flying on the eligible Virgin Australia domestic and international short haul flight. Please note that the eligible Velocity Points earning credit card doesn't need to be active (i.e., it may be cancelled or expired) at the time of flying. Please note that Velocity reserves the right to update the list of eligible Velocity Points earning credit cards from time to time.
Points are calculated on the 'all inclusive fare' price (in Australian dollars) which includes the base fare, taxes (including GST), fees and carrier charges. Points aren't earned on other fees, charges, and extras (e.g., seat selection, preferred seating, baggage charges, and credit card surcharges).
6. Velocity members earn Base Points calculated using the 'Points per dollar spent on the All-Inclusive Fare' method at a rate of 5 Base Points per dollar spent for bookings made before 2 April 2025 and at a rate of 4 Base Points per dollar spent for bookings made on or after 2 April 2025, when flying with Virgin Australia booked as a Virgin Australia Itinerary. The ‘All Inclusive Fare’ includes base fare, taxes (including GST), fees and carrier charges and excludes seat selection purchase and other extras, such as Economy X, Preferred Seating, Baggage Allowance or Carbon Offset. Members with Silver Status and above receive a Points Bonus on top of the Base Points earned for all fare types except Economy Lite. Silver members receive a 50% Points bonus, Gold and Forever Gold members receive a 75% Points bonus, and Platinum and Platinum Plus members receive a 100% Points Bonus on top of the Base Points earned.
