These sites are your secret weapons when it comes navigating the frequent flyer universe.

It’s time to get browsing.

So, you’re dipping a toe in the frequent flyer ocean and feeling a little lost? Or maybe you’ve been waist-deep for a while and want to dive in further? Well, we can help you with that.

But before you can swim in the open water, you’ll need to know a few tricks that’ll help you navigate things, because really, it's a world of its own. We’re talking about learning the ins and outs of frequent flyer programs and – most importantly – knowing where you can find info that will help you along the way.

Thankfully, we’re generous sorts – and we’re willing to share our insider knowledge. And if you follow our lead and bookmark these seven sites, you’ll be cruising the program world with no issues.

'My Velocity' - your Program Dashboard

Your first port of call should be the dashboard of your frequent flyer program, because that’s where the action happens. The dashboard is where you’re going to find a host of crucial information, like your current Points balance and Status level, as well as get a quick overview of where you’re accruing your Points.

For example, the ‘My Velocity’ section of your Velocity Frequent Flyer account is the place to go to check your Velocity Points and Status progress and perform maintenance related to your account (like ordering an extra card if you lose yours).

It’s also where you can activate your available member offers (be quick - they don't last long, and some are exclusive!) and take advantage of tips to really up your earn.

Oh, and if you fly somewhere with Virgin Australia or a partner airline and (somehow) forget to claim your Points, My Velocity is where you have your second chance to redeem yourself by claiming those missing Points.

Offers Pages

Keep your eyes peeled for frequent flyer offers pages, because this is where you’ll find all sorts of opportunities to maximise the value you’re getting from your program of choice. Offers pages are your best bet when it comes to bagging extra Points and Status Credits. Plus, if you’re a little bit strategic, you can take advantage of promotions without altering your daily routine too much.

For instance, head over to the Velocity Frequent Flyer ‘Offers’ page and you’re likely to see bonus Status Credits offers, flight promotions, exclusive travel discounts or seriously rewarding credit card bonus Points offers, just to name a few. Extra pro tip? Bookmark this page and check back regularly so you don't miss the new offers that pop up during the month.

View By Velocity

If you’re reading this, it’s too late (for us to tell you about this page). Take care to check back here regularly, because this is our central hub for all things program-related. This is where we dish the dirt and spill the tea on the inner-machinations of the Velocity Frequent Flyer program. With handy hints and insider info, we’ll guide you through the minutiae of the program – skipping over any of the boring stuff.

Straight from our brains to you, View by Velocity is your pal in the inner circle. Oh, and speaking of which, our mates over at Virgin Australia Travel do an amazing job at breaking down destination-specific travel tips – so check them out, too.

Points hacking sites

We’re not the only ones covering the frequent flyer beat. In fact, there’s a whole world of program-specific sites out there. One of our faves is Points Hacks. Their team scour the internet for all things points-related so that you don’t have to. It’s a central hub of info that covers everything from a beginner's guide to earning Points with hotels, to how to achieve Velocity Gold status in one strategically executed trip. If we’re the light and breezy voice in the pointsphere, these guys are the nitty-gritty nerds (and we say that with love).

We’re also fans of Steve Hui, AKA the Points Whisperer, the brains behind iFlyFlat. His two goals in life are to fly business class at massive discounts thanks to points, and to help you (and your business) do the same. Steve founded the site in 2012 and ever since then, he’s been using a combo of passion and points-wizardry to help people achieve their high-flying ambitions. In fact, we’ve even enlisted his help to explain how to earn big with Velocity.

The travel concierge team at iFlyFlat will consult with you to find the best use of your points, relying on their experience and knowledge to find you the best deals. Since their founding, they’ve redeemed a mind-blowing 350 million (!) frequent flyer points on behalf of clients, so it’s safe to say these guys know what they’re doing.

Points Booster

This is perhaps one of the handiest Velocity pages to have bookmarked. With Velocity’s Points Booster, you can boost your Points balance directly1. If you’re a little short on Points for a flight or reward, this is the solution that you’ve been waiting for. Using Points Booster, you can purchase up to 250,000 Points per calendar year. There are all sorts of scenarios where this is a great option, so this is a useful tool to have tucked up your sleeve (or packed in your carry-on, as it were).

Social media

Another great way to stay up to date with your frequent flyer program? Social media. And while snaps of clear blue waters and picturesque mountain peaks may immediately come to mind when you think of travel-related social pages, we'll leave that up to our airline friends. In frequent flyer land, we're all about giving you the latest news, offers and updates that will help you get the most out of the program. Anytime, anywhere.

The Velocity Frequent Flyer Facebook page is the place where we stay connected with our members (that’s you) and where you can quickly touch base on all things Velocity. We’re also on Instagram, so feel free to throw us a follow for all your loyalty and travel inspo needs. Tag us with #velocityfrequentflyer in your own feed or Insta story and you might even see yourself in our channels.

Unlike your family, we promise to never share any embarrassing photos of you as a kid (unless you want us to). It’s win-win.
