We double dare you to double dip.

If we’ve learned anything from early 90s TV sitcoms, it’s that to most, it’s a major social faux pas to “double dip” your chip (well that, and that it’s never truly a break). But did you know it’s actually a major Points earning faux pas to not double dip on Points with your credit card?

It’s no secret that one of the best ways to boost your Points balance is with a Velocity Points earning credit card, but what you might not know is that you could be using this card to double dip on Points with hundreds of Velocity partners.

What is double dipping?

Double dipping is the process of using your Velocity Points earning credit card to earn Points twice on many of our partner offers. Once with the partner and once with your card when you use it as your payment method. You might feel like you’re gaming the system, but it really is allowed.

How does it work?

When you spend with your Velocity Points earning credit card, you can earn Velocity Points on your everyday spend and the Points will automatically appear in your Velocity account without you having to do a thing. Even better, when you use your card to pay for products or services offered by some of our partners, you’ll also earn the Points available for that purchase (more if the partner has a current Points bonus on offer!) and that’s where your Points earning power can really take off.

For example, use your card when you book a Virgin Australia or partner airline flight or shop online with the Velocity eStore2 and you’ll be surprised how quickly the Velocity Points build up. By using your Velocity Points earning credit card as the form of payment, you’ll earn two lots of Velocity Points for a single eligible purchase.

Another great way to double dip if you’re signed up to flybuys and have linked your Velocity and flybuys accounts, is to use your Velocity Points earning card when shopping at Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland, Kmart and more. You’ll collect flybuys points every time you scan your flybuys card at participating flybuys partners which you can then transfer into Velocity Points3. This way you will double up by earning Points once for every $1 of eligible spend on your credit card, and once when you transfer your flybuys points to Velocity.

And there you have it – you’re now a master of the double dip! Just keep your credit card chip out of the salsa.

Velocity Points earning credit cards include American Express Velocity Platinum, Escape & Business cards; Virgin Money Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer and Flyer cards; Bank of Queensland Specialist Velocity Signature & Platinum cards; and Westpac Altitude Platinum and Altitude Black American Express and Mastercard Credit Cards.
