UpgradeMe Points Request Waitlist

If you are unable to secure a confirmed upgrade using Velocity Points, you may be able to register to waitlist for an upgrade. Upgrade requests may be submitted at any time following confirmation and ticketing of your booking to 4 hours prior to departure.

Depending on your Velocity membership level, waitlisted upgrade requests may be confirmed from 5 days prior to flight departure.

Eligibility

Eligibility for an UpgradeMe Points flight upgrade or to request a waitlist for an UpgradeMe Points flight upgrade depends on your Velocity membership level, the fare type purchased and destination.

All members

Upgrades and waitlisting for upgrades on your domestic flight are possible from ‘Getaway’, ‘Elevate’ and ‘Freedom’. Upgrades and waitlisting for upgrades on your international short haul flight are only possible on ‘Go Plus’, ‘Getaway’ and ‘Freedom’ fares.

Platinum and Gold members

Upgrades and waitlisting on your international long haul flights are possible from a ‘Freedom’ fare to the Premium Economy or Business cabin, and from a ‘Premium Saver’ or ‘Premium’ Fare to the Business cabin.

To waitlist your upgrade request, simply access your booking online and follow the instructions or call the Membership Contact Centre.

Waitlist clearance timetable

UpgradeMe Points Waitlist requests may be registered at any time following booking confirmation and ticketing from 331 days to 4 hours before flight departure. Subject to Reward Seat availability in the requested class of service, waitlisted upgrade requests may be confirmed within the following timeframes in accordance with your Velocity membership level:

Velocity Membership level Waitlist confirmation time
Platinum From 5 days to 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure time
Gold From 3 days to 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure time
Silver From 2 days to 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure time
Red From 2 days to 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure time

If you have registered to waitlist an upgrade request before these times, you are encouraged to check your flight for upgrade availability to secure a confirmed upgrade.

Confirmation of upgrade requests

You will only be notified if your waitlisted upgrade request is successful.

If your upgrade request is confirmed from the waitlist:

  • you will be sent an email advising you that your upgrade request has been confirmed;
  • Velocity Points will be deducted from your account; and
  • you will receive an updated Flight Itinerary and Electronic Ticket Receipt via email.

You must have sufficient Points in your Velocity account at the time upgrades are being processed for your UpgradeMe Points flight upgrade to be successful.

Important Note: You will not be notified if your waitlisted upgrade request is unsuccessful.
