Earn Velocity Points and Status Credits on eligible Virgin Australia Holiday bookings.

The Velocity member who is the primary guest will earn 3 Points per $1 eligible spend on the total holiday including hotel and flights.  Tiered members will earn Tiered Bonus Points based on their Tier at the time of completing their Virgin Australia Holiday.*

How many Points will I earn?

The Status Credits you earn on eligible domestic and international short haul flights will depend on fare type and miles flown.

Earning Status Credits by booking a Virgin Australia Holiday will help you to maintain or upgrade your Velocity Status. You can also keep track of your Status Credits in My Velocity

Status Credits are valid for a period of 12 months, from the date flown.

Velocity Frequent Flyer Members (“Velocity Members”) can earn or redeem Velocity Frequent Flyer Points (“Velocity Points”) and Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits (“Status Credits”) for Virgin Australia Holidays (“Holiday”) booked via the Holidays by Hopper portal (“Portal”) http://www.virginaustralia.com/au-en/holidays, subject to these terms and conditions, the Hopper Terms of Service Terms and Conditions and the Velocity membership terms and conditions.

Earning Points on Virgin Australia Holidays

  • Velocity Points are earned by Velocity Members based on their tier status and the following earn rates apply for each eligible Holiday booked:
  • Red tier Velocity Members earn 3 Velocity Points per $1 spent.
  • Silver tier Velocity Members earn 4.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent. 
  • Gold tier Velocity Members earn 5.25 Velocity Points per $1 spent.
  • Platinum tier Velocity Members earn 6 Velocity Points per $1 spent.
  • Platinum Plus tier Velocity Members earn 7.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent. 
  • Velocity Members must submit their valid Velocity Member number at the time of booking, or by contacting Virgin Australia prior to check-in, to be eligible to earn Velocity Points.
  • Velocity Points are awarded to Velocity Members who identify themselves as the Primary Guest in the Holiday booking (“Primary Guest”). 
  • Velocity Points are awarded based on the Velocity Member tier status of the Primary Guest at the time of completed travel, not at the time of booking. 
  • Velocity Points will be awarded up to 1 week after the return flight included within the Holiday booking. 
  • Velocity Points will be awarded for Holiday bookings that include a return flight as part of the booking. Velocity Points will not be awarded for Holiday bookings that include one way or multicity flights as part of the Holiday booking. 
  • Velocity Members are not eligible for Velocity Points for a cancelled Holiday booking. 
  • The only Velocity Member eligible to earn Velocity Points for the Holiday booking is the Primary Guest. 
  • The first name and surname of the Primary Guest must match the Velocity Member details to be eligible to earn Velocity Points. 
  • Velocity Points are not earned on full redemption Holiday bookings. Velocity Points are only earned on the “Pay” component of a Points + Pay bookings. Velocity Points are not earned on the “Points” redemption component of these Holiday bookings. 
  • Velocity Points are calculated based on the total amount of the original Holiday booking and are not earned on additional or incidental costs, fees or charges, such as in-room charges, early check-in, late check-out and upgrades. 
  • Please note that for bookings made via Virgin Australia Holidays, where payment is made directly with the hotel or accommodation provider, fees such as in-room charges, early check-in, late check-out and upgrades, may incur a credit card surcharge. 
  • Any changes made to the Holiday booking via the Virgin Australia Guest Contact Centre or Hopper Contact Centre will not earn additional Velocity Points.

Redeeming Points on Virgin Australia Holidays

  • Velocity Members may redeem their Velocity Points to pay for Holidays booked via the Portal.
  • Velocity Points may be redeemed for a partial or full amount of the Holiday booked (including taxes and surcharges). Any additional or incidental costs, fees and charges, such as in-room hotel charges, cannot be paid with Velocity Points and must be paid directly to the hotel.
  • Please ensure that the passport or photo-id presented on check-in at the hotel matches the guest’s name on the Holiday booking.
  • Prior to confirming your Holiday booking, please review the cancellation policies relating to the hotel and flights you have selected as they may vary from time to time. In some cases, the Holiday booked may be non-refundable or non-changeable.
  • Velocity Members may be entitled to a refund under the Australian Consumer Law in certain circumstances. If your Holiday booking qualifies for a refund, the total number of Velocity Points used for the booking can be refunded.
  • The minimum Velocity Points required to redeem a Holiday booked via Holidays by Hopper is 2,000 Velocity Points.
  • The amount of Velocity Points required for a Holiday booking may vary depending on the Holiday booking, time of booking and the date for which the Holiday booking is made.
  • Velocity Points redemption levels are subject to change at the discretion of Velocity Frequent Flyer.
  • Velocity Points are not earned on Holiday bookings made by redeeming Velocity Points or through the “Points” component of a “Points + Pay” booking.

Earning Status Credits on Flights

  • Velocity Members who book Holidays via the Portal may earn Status Credits for the Virgin Australia Domestic and/or Virgin Australia Short-Haul International and Trans-Tasman flight components of the Holiday booking only.
  • Status Credits are earned based on the fare type originally booked (i.e. Choice or Business) and the number of miles flown as part of a Virgin Australia Domestic and/or Virgin Australia Short-Haul International and Trans-Tasman flight forming part of the Holiday booking at the rates outlined below:

  • Status Credits are awarded up to 1 week after the completion of the return flight included within the Holiday booking.
  • All Velocity Members may be eligible to earn Status Credits for a Holiday booking if they have submitted their valid Velocity Member number at the time of booking, or in the Hopper Manage page prior to check-in.
  • Status Credits are not awarded on any cancelled or un-flown bookings.
  • Status Credits are awarded as per the table above for Holidays that are either paid in full or paid via Points
