There are three different base Reward Seat fare prices (in Points) that apply to a Virgin Australia Domestic Economy Reward Seat redemption within each given ‘one way zone’, based on the availability of & demand for Economy Reward Seats for a particular flight at a given time. These are referred to as Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3.
To determine which Tier price (in Points) is available for a given flight, check the base fare Point quote provided on the Virgin Australia booking portal. The lower Tier Points prices indicated above cannot be guaranteed or reserved without making a Points redemption booking and can only be secured on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
The above indicates the minimum number of Points required for a domestic Reward Seat booking that does not include a ‘domestic break in journey’ (when onward travel on a multi-flight booking is not scheduled to take place within the same calendar day).
When a booking includes multiple domestic flights with a break in the journey & OR a change in cabin class, multiple airlines or an onward Trans-Tasman or Short Haul International flight on Virgin Australia, the number of Points required will be higher1.
Applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges are also payable in addition to the fare - these are quoted at the time of booking and will vary depending on city pair and start from $16.952.
