Virgin Australia recently completed the acquisition and renaming of Perth-based, Skywest Airlines as part of plans to expand their regional flight network.

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions for Velocity members:

Earning Points

Will I continue to earn Velocity Points and Status Credits on routes operated by Virgin Australia Regional Airlines?

Yes. All Velocity Frequent Flyer Program Members travelling on Virgin Australia Regional Airlines flights (with a VA flight number) from 2 August 2013 will earn Velocity points as per the standard Virgin Australia earn structure of points per dollar.

You will also earn Status Credits on all eligible fare types.

Will I earn Points and Status Credits on charter services?

Earning Velocity Points and/or Status Credits on charter services will depend on each individual contract or route.

I did not earn Points and/or Status Credits from my charter flight. Who do I call to follow this up?

You will need to contact your onsite travel coordinator that booked your travel.

I forgot to add my Velocity Frequent Flyer number to my Skywest or Virgin Australia flights with an XR flight number. Can I claim my missing Points and Status Credits?

Yes. To claim Velocity Points for eligible flights with an XR flight code, email a copy of your Electronic Ticket and Boarding Pass to retro@velocityrewards.com.au.

Claims must be requested within 6 months of travel provided you were a member at the time of travel.

Will Virgin Australia Regional Airlines flights offer Business Class redemptions?

No - these services will only offer Economy redemptions.


Will I receive Status benefits when travelling on Virgin Australia’s new Australian domestic regional services (e.g. Priority Check-in)?

Yes, these benefits will be provided to eligible Members where available.

Existing bookings

If I have an existing booking for travel on Skywest, do I need a new ticket or do I need to rebook?

If required, Velocity will automatically exchange your ticket and send you a new itinerary receipt to the email address we hold in your booking.

I used my Velocity Points for a Skywest flight for travel on or after 2 August 2013. Do I need a new ticket?

Velocity has automatically exchanged your ticket to reflect a new flight number and sent you a new itinerary receipt to the email address we hold in your booking.
