Introducing Fares For You
On 7 September 2016 Virgin Australia is launching new fare options to offer you more choice during the booking process and greater control over product inclusions in your fare.
‘Fares For You’ offers a range of fares across all Domestic and International routes so you can choose the fare that most suits you each time you travel. These fares will replace the existing fare structure from 7 September 2016.
You will now have access to new base fares that have fewer inclusions, but represent great value. Velocity Points will still be earned on all fares.

The new Fares For You
Economy fare types include:
- Getaway - The lowest domestic fare for guests who know exactly when they want to fly.
- Elevate - Both value and flexibility, with options to explore if our guests’ plans change.
- Freedom - Full flexibility for guests who might have a last minute change of plan.
Two additional Economy fare types are available for Short Haul International and Trans Tasman routes:
- Go - For guests with locked in plans who don’t need to check in baggage or meals.
- Go Plus - For guests who want great value, checked baggage, and would rather save on extras they may not need.
Business and Premium Economy fare types include:
- Premium Saver - The Premium Saver fare offers an outstanding experience for superb value. Perfect for when your plans are unlikely to change.
- Premium - For guests who want flexibility.
- Business Saver - The Business Saver fare offers superb value for exceptional style and refined comfort. Perfect for when your plans are unlikely to change.
- Business - For guests who prefer refined comfort and full flexibility.
New Status Credit earn table
From 30 January 2017, new Status Credit earn tables will come into effect.
In line with the new earn tables, members will earn more Status Credits in most fare classes when travelling domestically with Virgin Australia. Status Credit earn for International travel with Virgin Australia will remain the same, however from 30 January 2017 members travelling in L class on International Long Haul flights will earn at the Discount Economy rate.
The current Status Credit earn table will apply to all markets until 29 January 2017 (Domestic, Trans-Tasman, International Short Haul and International Long Haul flights). There are no changes to Status Credit earn rates when travelling with airline partners.

Members will continue to earn Status Credits in accordance with the current earn table if they:
- Fly prior to 30 January 2017; or,
- Travel with an airline partner on a partner flight number.

UpgradeMe Points
UpgradeMe Points is now available on even more Trans Tasman and International Short Haul flights. Use Points to upgrade from Go Plus, Getaway and Freedom fares on these networks.
From 7 September 2016, L class will be part of the Elevate fare family on the International Long Haul network. UpgradeMe Points is not available on International Long Haul Elevate fares.
The amount of Points required to upgrade is not changing.

Points bonus for Platinum, Gold and Silver members
From 30 January 2017, Platinum, Gold and Silver members will continue to earn a Points bonus when travelling on all fare types except a Domestic Getaway fare.
Fly Ahead
From 1 December 2016, Platinum and Gold members will still be able to Fly Ahead on all domestic fare types, except the least flexible Getaway fare which is designed for those who know exactly when they want to travel.

Advance Seat Preference
In the coming months Virgin Australia will introduce Advance Seat Preference. Passengers who purchase selected fares will need to pay a small fee in order to select a seat more than 48 hours prior to their flight departure. Platinum and Gold members will be exempt from this fee. All passengers will continue to be able to select a seat free of charge within 48 hours of departure when the online check-in window opens.
Membership Contact Centre Fees
From 7 October 2016, there will be an increase to some fees collected via the Membership Contact Centre. The changes are outlined below and are included in the Fee Schedule within the Member Terms and Conditions. These fees only apply when making or changing a booking via the Membership Contact Centre.

Reward Seat and Any Seat bookings
There are no changes to the terms and conditions or fare inclusions of Reward Seat bookings. Members who book a Reward Seat will continue to enjoy complimentary seat selection, food and checked baggage. Platinum and Gold members will still be able to Fly Ahead when travelling on a Reward Seat booking.
If you can’t find the Reward Seat you want, you can redeem Points for Any Seat with Virgin Australia. These seats have a higher Points price but offer the same benefits as ‘Fares for You’ fares.
