Introducing Virgin Australia, now you're flying!

Virgin Australia touched down for the first time today at Sydney Airport, signalling the dawn of a new travel experience for all Australians.

The company announced it will implement one look and feel across all of its airlines in order to encapsulate its seamless proposition of style, quality and competitive prices to leisure and business travellers.

Sir Richard Branson, who launched the new airline identity along with CEO and Managing Director John Borghetti, said the Virgin Australia brand represented an exciting new chapter for the airline.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the new look and feel of Virgin Australia and its potential to shake up the Australian travel market. What you see here today is a new airline that signifies what the Virgin brand does worldwide: great value for money, style, innovation and quality.

“The new brand, livery and product and service offering will help to transform Virgin Blue from a low cost carrier into a contemporary, stylish, professional airline fit to compete with the best worldwide”, Mr Branson said.

Virgin Australia’s first ever CEO John Borghetti said the launch of the new brand and look and feel was a pivotal point in the airline’s Game Change Program and built on the significant announcements made in recent months.

“Our aim is to be the airline of choice for all market segments. We will do this by bringing the magic back to flying – providing a safe, seamless experience, with stylish service that can be tailored to the individual.

“In re-positioning the airline we have kept all the great attributes Virgin Blue is renowned for – the “can-do” attitude, the competitive pricing and the genuine friendly service – and elevated it to a new level by introducing a more stylish, professional look and feel and providing a superior product in the air and on the ground.

Mr Borghetti also today confirmed that Virgin Australia would re-launch its Velocity frequent flyer program, providing a global network to 644 destinations around the world, global lounge access and exclusive worldwide travel privileges and rewards.

“We recognise that frequent flyer programs are one of the most important factors for travellers, and that is why we are overhauling the Velocity program. Over the next few months, we will build one of the best frequent flyer programs in the world, with global coverage, great value and unique benefits for business and leisure travellers.
