Welcome to the flying elite.

Settle in. Have a drink. You’ve earnt it.

You’ve clocked plenty of hours in the sky. Entry-level Velocity membership feels like a lifetime ago, Silver membership is a fond memory, and you can say a heartfelt goodbye to your trusty Gold Velocity Status as you trade it in for your newly minted Platinum card.

Along with the benefits enjoyed by Gold Velocity members, like access to over 150 global lounges, guaranteed Virgin Australia Reward Seat availability for an annual family trip (only the difference being that Platinum Velocity members can choose an international destination as well) and Priority Check-in, Screening at selected airports, Boarding and Baggage at the airport, Platinum membership comes with a whole slew of its own perks and privileges.

Here’s how we like to roll out the red carpet for our flying elite.

Get some extra legroom

Speaking of legroom, our Platinum members and their travelling companions on the same booking get complimentary Economy X seat selection on Domestic and International Short Haul flights (subject to availability), which sounds special because it is. Economy X means preferred overhead lockers and extra legroom at the front of the cabin or in exit rows, which means a comfier flight for you and your travelling companions.

Upgrade yourself

We also like to mark your ascension to the top of the Status ladder with a few special invitations to the pointy end of the plane. Platinum Velocity members are entitled to four complimentary upgrades per review year (subject to Business Class Reward Seat availability) when flying on an eligible fare on Domestic or International Short Haul flights operated and marketed by Virgin Australia.

You can request an upgrade through our Membership Contact Centre anytime between booking the flight and two hours before your scheduled departure, or in the Lounge on your day of travel at least 40 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. So when you’re kicking back with that glass of bubbles and all that legroom, just think of it as our way of saying, ‘Thank you for your loyalty’.

Gift Gold

This one should make you and your number one person – whether it’s your partner, your best mate or your mum – very happy. Here at Velocity, we’re all about sharing the love, so we offer Companion premium memberships to our Platinum members. Platinum members will be eligible to nominate one Companion Gold member upon exceeding the maintain Platinum threshold if they earn enough Status Credits on eligible Virgin Australia marketed and or operated flights, flown by themselves.

Platinum members must earn 1300 Status Credits during their Penefit Period, with a minimum of 650 Status Credits earned on eligble Virgin Australia marketed and or operated flights flown by themselves, to be able to gift Companion Gold to another member.

Get there earlier with fly ahead

At the airport with plenty of time to spare? As a Platinum Velocity member, if you’re ready to leave ahead of schedule, you can request to Fly Ahead to your destination on an earlier flight as long as you’re not flying on a Getaway fare. On top of being able to make a request at the airport, Platinum members can also call our Guest Contact Centre to make a Fly Ahead request.
