Earning Points

When hiring a car with SIXT, the earn rate will depend on the location in which the car hire is taking place as well as your Velocity status level.

Earn rate per $1 spent on eligible car rentals within Australia & New Zealand are the following based on a member's status level:

  • Red members earn 3 Points
  • Silver members earn 4.5 Points
  • Gold members earn 5.25 Points
  • Platinum members earn 6 Points

 

For eligible car rentals outside of Australia or New Zealand, the flat earn rates are the following based on a member's status level:

  • Red members earn 800 Points
  • Silver members earn 1,200 Points
  • Gold members earn 1,400 Points
  • Platinum members earn 1,600 Points

 

Earning Points on car hire is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  • Search for a car rental with SIXT via the Virgin Australia website or directly with SIXT
  • As part of the checkout process, add your Velocity membership details to the booking
  • Your Velocity Points will be awarded 6-8 weeks after the car rental is completed.

Claim missing Points

If you forgot to add your Velocity membership at the time of booking, you can still earn your points in two ways:

  • If you booked directly with SIXT and the car hire has not happened yet, simply present your Velocity number when you collect your vehicle from SIXT.

  • Alternatively if you booked directly with SIXT and the car hire has ended, you can claim your points retrospectively provided you were a member at the time of the activity and that the claim is within 6 months of the eligible transaction.

Terms and Condition

In Australia and New Zealand, the Points earn rate is based on the base rental cost of the vehicle. Silver, Gold and Platinum members earn tier bonus Points on top of the base Points earned depending on their membership status. For reservations within Australia and New Zealand, as a Red member you will earn 3 Points per $1 spent; as a Silver member you will earn a total of 4.5 Points per $1 spent; as a Gold member you will earn a total of 5.25 Points per $1 spent; and as a Platinum member you will earn a total of 6 Points per $1 spent. For the rest of the world, only bookings made through sixt.com or sixt.com.au are eligible to earn points. For eligible bookings, you will earn a flat rate of Velocity Points per rental: 800 Points as a Red member, 1200 Points as a Silver member, 1400 Points as a Gold member or 1600 Points as a Platinum member. To be eligible to earn Velocity Points, a person must hold current Velocity membership.

Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn Points for car hire bookings made via Virgin Australia with car hire by CarTrawler. All bookings made through this platform are subject to CarTrawler terms and conditions.

Members will not earn Points for rentals on wholesale rates, staff and industry rates, restricted rate plans that SIXT has entered into with third parties (SIXT Products only) (except for any third party which has been nominated by Velocity or Virgin Australia to provide car rental services for Velocity or Virgin Australia operated channels or websites), long-term rates (ie. rentals longer than 28 consecutive days), international prepaid rates, some corporate rates defined by each company and their individual corporate contracts, damage liability cover, optional insurance, vehicle registration fee, premium location fee, admin fee, taxes, GST, one-way fees, age surcharges, additional driver fees and equipment such ski racks, baby/booster seats or GPS rental costs. Please note that not all car types will be available.
