Terms and Conditions

In Australia and New Zealand, the Points earn rate is 3 Points per $ based on the base rental cost of the vehicle. Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus members earn tier bonus Points on top of the base Points earned depending on their membership status. For reservations within Australia and New Zealand, as a Red member you will earn 3 Points per $1 spent; as a Silver member you will earn a total of 4.5 Points per $1 spent; as a Gold member you will earn a total of 5.25 Points per $1 spent; and as a Platinum or Platinum Plus member you will earn a total of 6 Points per $1 spent. For the rest of the world, you will earn a flat rate of 800 Velocity Points per rental. Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Platinum Plus members earn tier bonus Points depending on their membership status. As a red member you will earn 800 Points, 1200 Points as a Silver member, 1400 Points as a Gold member and 1600 Points as a Platinum or Platinum Plus member. To be eligible to earn Velocity Points, a person must hold current Velocity membership.

Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn or redeem Points for car hire bookings in Australia made via Virgin Australia with car hire by CarTrawler.  All bookings made through this platform are subject to CarTrawler terms and conditions.

Members will not earn Points for rentals on wholesale rates, staff and industry rates, restricted rate plans that SIXT has entered into with third parties (SIXT Products only) (except for any third party which has been nominated by Velocity or Virgin Australia to provide car rental services for Velocity or Virgin Australia operated channels or websites), long-term rates (ie. rentals longer than 28 consecutive days), international prepaid rates, some corporate rates defined by each company and their individual corporate contracts, damage liability cover, optional insurance, vehicle registration fee, premium location fee, admin fee, taxes, GST, one-way fees, age surcharges, additional driver fees and equipment such ski racks, baby/booster seats or GPS rental costs. Please note that not all car types will be available.

Velocity Membership and points earned is subject to the Velocity Membership Terms and Conditions, as amended from time to time. All car rentals are governed by SIXT’s standard Terms and Conditions.

You must be a Velocity Member to redeem Points for car hire. If you are booking a car for someone else, please ensure the passport or photo-id presented at vehicle pick up matches the driver’s name you indicate when you confirm your booking. Please ensure you review the cancellation policy attached to your reservation as these vary, and in some cases include non-refundable, non-changeable reservations. You may be entitled to a refund under the Australian Consumer Law in certain circumstances. If your booking qualifies for a refund, the total number of Points used for the booking can be refunded. Partial refunds of Points are not available. Please note that prepaid redemption bookings for Car Hire are non-refundable within 48 hours of travel. The minimum Points required to redeem a rental car via CarTrawler is 2,000 Velocity Points. The actual Points required vary depending on the vehicle, rental brand, rate type, time of booking and date for which the booking is made. Redemption levels are subject to change at the discretion of Velocity Frequent Flyer. You can use your Points to cover a partial amount or the full amount of the car rental rate including taxes and surcharges. Points cannot be earned on full redemption bookings made with Points. For Points + Pay bookings, Velocity Points will be earned on any "+ Pay" component for Australia reservations only.  Any additional direct payments required at time of pick up, are not included.
