 These Terms and Conditions contain important terms that you should be aware of, specifically:

  • Clause 2.4 outlines how we can make changes to these Terms and Conditions.
  • Clause 3.9, 3.10 and 3.11 outlines the circumstances in which your membership may be terminated or suspended and the processes that follow in taking this action.
  • Clause 6 sets out limitations on our liability to you when accessing the Beyond Lounge.
  • Clause 7, among other items, says that we collect your personal information so that we can provide services to you. It also says we will collect and handle your personal information, as well as sharing with others, in accordance with the Virgin Australia Privacy Policy and Velocity Frequent Flyer Privacy Policy.   

Virgin Australia Beyond Membership - Terms and Conditions

1. DEFINITIONS

1.1. Unless the context otherwise requires, the following definitions apply:

Airline Partners means a partner of Velocity Frequent Flyer which is an airline, but does not include Virgin Australia.

Associated Lounges means lounges operated by another airline or third party with which Virgin Australia has an agreement for use of the lounge by certain guests.

Benefit Period means the period of (i) 12 months after the date on which you are upgraded/ maintain your membership of Virgin Australia Beyond for standard memberships or (ii) a period determined by Virgin Australia in its absolute discretion for Pilot Memberships.

Chief Executive Officer means the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Australia.

Invited Guests means a person who enters a Lounge or a Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge as a guest of a Member.

Loss means any loss, damage, cost or expense, including consequential or indirect loss, loss of savings, business opportunities, revenue, profit and/or damage to goodwill.

Lounge means the lounges operated by Virgin Australia for Virgin Australia Lounge membership holders, Velocity Frequent Flyer members (where applicable) and their guests.

Lounge Guest means any individual who is eligible to access a Lounge or Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge.

Lounge Rules means the rules which apply to every Occupant of the Lounge that are available at www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/travel-info/at-the-airport/lounge/virgin-australia-lounge-rules, as amended from time to time.

Member or Membership means a Virgin Australia Beyond Member or Partner Member.

Membership Card means your membership card for Virgin Australia Beyond, which is issued to you by Virgin Australia when you become a Virgin Australia Beyond Member and replaces your Velocity Frequent Flyer membership card. This card can be physical or digital.

Occupant means a Member who has entered and is occupying a Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge.

Partner Member means a person who has been nominated for Partner Membership by a Virgin Australia Beyond Member.

Partner Membership means the membership of Virgin Australia Beyond which is granted to a Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s spouse or life partner of the Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s choice.

Pilot Membership means the ability to trial Virgin Australia Beyond status for a period determined by Virgin Australia which is offered by invitation by Virgin Australia at its discretion.

Terms and Conditions means the terms and conditions which apply to membership of  Virgin Australia Beyond, as set out in this document and as amended from time to time by Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia Beyond means membership of the program outlined in this document. 

Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre means the service centre which is open 7 days per week during specified hours, and is exclusively available for members of Virgin Australia Beyond.

Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge means the lounges operated by Virgin Australia exclusively for members of Virgin Australia Beyond.

Virgin Australia Beyond Member means a guest invited to be a member of Virgin Australia Beyond.

Velocity Frequent Flyer means the loyalty program (as amended from time to time) of Virgin Australia which is owned and operated by Velocity Rewards Pty Ltd ACN 116 089 448.

Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions mean the terms and conditions which apply to membership of Velocity Frequent Flyer from time to time and are located at

Virgin Australia, us or we, means Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Limited ABN 36 090 670 965.

Virgin Australia domestic means flights operated within Australia by Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia international short haul means flights operated between Australia and New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and South East Asia.2. INTRODUCTION

2.1. Your Membership of Virgin Australia Beyond (operated by Virgin Australia) is subject to these Terms and Conditions, and any applicable law. Use of the Virgin Australia Beyond benefits will be taken as acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Members and Virgin Australia are responsible for complying with these Terms and Conditions. 

2.2 Members agree and acknowledge that Virgin Australia is a party to these Terms and Conditions in its personal capacity and as agent for Velocity Frequent Flyer Pty Ltd (Velocity Frequent
Flyer) to the extent that any rights or obligations under these Terms are to the benefit, or
are the responsibility, of Velocity Frequent Flyer. References to 'we, 'us' and 'our' in these Terms and Conditions are references to Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer.

2.3. These Terms and Conditions are in addition to the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions. In the event of an inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions will apply to the extent of the inconsistency.

2.4 Members have certain rights under the Australian Consumer Law. These include Consumer Guarantees that the services we provide to Members will be carried out by us with due care and skill, will be fit for the purpose we disclose and will be supplied within a reasonable time. Where we fail to provide services to Members in accordance with these Consumer Guarantees or otherwise in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, then Members may have a right to seek a remedy from us in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, our policies and any applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions exclude or limit the Consumer Guarantees or any other statutory rights that Members may have under applicable laws (including the Australian Consumer Law) that cannot be excluded. Members can find out more about the Consumer Guarantees here. This is a summary of some of Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. It is not an exhaustive list and is not legal advice.

2.5 Virgin Australia may vary these Terms and Conditions from time to time. It is important that Members understand that the benefits and other features of Virgin Australia Beyond may change over time. We will:

2.5.1 act reasonably in making any changes;

2.5.2 try to give Members at least 30 days’ notice if we make a material change to these Terms and Conditions using the email address recorded in the Member’s Velocity Accounts;

2.5.3 where possible, try to provide the Member with at least 14 days’ notice of other changes to these Terms and Conditions using the email address recorded in the Member’s Velocity Account and;

2.5.4 publish any changes to the Terms and Conditions within the Member’s Velocity account.

2.5.5 We may give the Member less or no notice if we need to make urgent changes, such as to comply with applicable Laws, or where we cannot control the timing of a change (for example, due to arrangements with third parties).

2.6. If the Virgin Australia Beyond Member accepts their invitation to become a member of Virgin Australia Beyond, the Virgin Australia Beyond Member is taken to have agreed to:

2.6.1. be bound by these Terms and Conditions (as they are amended from time to time);

2.6.2. be bound by Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions (as they are amended from time to time); and 2.6.3. have provided the Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s consent to receive direct marketing and promotional materials as set out in clause 1.2 of the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions.

2.7. Defined terms in these Terms and Conditions shall have the same meaning as set out in the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions, unless otherwise defined in these Terms and Conditions.

3. MEMBERSHIP

Who can become a Member?

3.1. Membership is by invitation only.

Virgin Australia Beyond Membership

3.2. Virgin Australia Beyond Members will receive the benefits set out in these Terms and Conditions, and any other benefits, which we may advise the Virgin Australia Beyond Member of from time to time.

3.3. Any benefits provided to Virgin Australia Beyond Members are in addition to the Velocity Platinum benefits, which a Member is entitled to access.

3.4. Membership will be reviewed every Benefit Period.

Partner Membership

3.5. A Virgin Australia Beyond Member may nominate one spouse/life partner for Partner Membership by contacting Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre.

3.6. The Partner Member will be entitled to receive all the benefits of membership of Virgin Australia Beyond, subject to these Terms and Conditions.

3.7. A Partner Member is not required to travel with the nominating Virgin Australia Beyond Member in order to receive the benefits of Partner Membership.

3.8. In the event a Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s membership is terminated, the membership of their nominated Partner Member will also be terminated, unless otherwise determined by Virgin Australia.

3.9. In the event a Virgin Australia Beyond Member elects to replace the recipient of the Partner Membership, written notice must be provided to Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre. The existing recipient’s Partner Membership will cease (from the date we are notified of the change), and benefits associated with the Partner Membership will be transferred to the new nominee, unless otherwise determined by Virgin Australia., and benefits associated with the Partner Membership will be transferred to the new nominee, unless otherwise determined by Virgin Australia.

3.10. Partner Membership expiry dates are linked to the Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s expiry dates regardless of whether there has been a change in nominee of the Partner Member.

Membership Card

3.11. The Membership Card remains the property of Virgin Australia at all times. The Virgin Australia Beyond Member must take reasonable care of it and return it or destroy it on request.

3.12. Membership Cards are not payment cards.

3.13. Membership Cards cannot be used by other persons other than the named Member on the Membership Card.

3.14 Partner Members will be issued with a digital card.

Membership is not transferable

3.15. Your Membership is not transferable (other than in accordance with these Terms and Conditions).

Termination of Membership by you

3.16. The Virgin Australia Beyond Member may choose to terminate their Membership (or that of a Partner Member) at any time by giving written notice to Virgin Australia. If the Virgin Australia Beyond Member or Partner Member wishes to terminate their membership of Velocity Frequent Flyer, the Virgin Australia Beyond Member or Partner Member must separately terminate that membership in accordance with the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions.

Termination of Membership by Virgin Australia

3.17. If we reasonably suspect that the Member breached these Terms or the Velocity Membership Terms and Conditions, we may:

3.17.1 end the Membership or suspend the Membership while we investigate the issue;

3.17.2 cancel or refuse to honour any Membership benefits that the Member has redeemed or been provided with; or

3.17.3 make any other decision or take any other action that we think is reasonably necessary in the circumstances.

3.18 Other than as set out below, if we are considering ending the Membership because of the Member’s breach of these Terms or the Velocity Membership Terms and Conditions, we’ll give the Member at least 14 days’ prior notice requesting that the Member remedy any breach (if it can be remedied) and ask for an explanation why we should not end the Membership. We’ll take the explanation into account in making our decision.

3.19. In the event a Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s membership is terminated, the membership of their nominated Partner Member will also be terminated, unless otherwise determined by Virgin Australia.

3.20 Circumstances in which we may consider it reasonable to immediately suspend the Membership without notice include if we:

3.20.1 identify or suspect potentially fraudulent or dishonest activity in connection with the Membership; or

3.20.2 suspect the Member dealt with or attempted to deal with Member benefits other than in accordance with these Terms (e.g. an attempt to sell, transfer or otherwise deal with your or someone else’s Membership).

Effect of termination on the Membership

3.21. On termination of the Membership for any reason, all benefits associated with Virgin Australia Beyond will cease. To the extent permitted by law, neither Virgin Australia nor Velocity Frequent Flyer will be liable for any Loss whatsoever which the Member or anyone else may suffer as a result of any termination of the Membership. Velocity Frequent Flyer may separately suspend or end the Member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer membership in accordance with the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions.

Baggage Allowance

3.22. Virgin Australia Beyond Members and Partner Members may each check-in up to 5 pieces of checked baggage when flying on Virgin Australia operated flights, on all eligible fare types, excluding Economy Lite fares which do not include a baggage allowance. No single item may exceed 32kg.

3.23.  Virgin Australia Beyond Members and Partner Members each may carry:

a)     one standard carry-on baggage piece not exceeding 7kg or;

b)     two small pieces not exceeding 7kg each or;

c)     one standard piece plus one suit pack not exceeding 7kg each plus one personal item e.g., laptop, handbag.

Carry-on baggage limits exist due to the limited space in the aircraft cabin, as well as the importance we place on the safety and comfort of our guest and crew.

3.24. Excess baggage fees will not be waived for Members with an onward connection onto one of our Airline Partners.

3.25. When travelling on a flight operated by an Airline Partner, Velocity Platinum benefits of additional baggage allowance will apply if applicable to the Airline Partner.

3.26. Carriage of baggage on an Airline Partner will be subject to the Airline Partner’s own terms and conditions. Check the relevant Airline Partner’s website for more information.

Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre

3.27. Members are entitled to access the Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre, an exclusive service centre which is available 7 days per week between 6am and 7pm Monday to Friday, and 7am and 6pm Saturday and Sunday by contacting 1800 041 404 or via email beyond@virginaustralia.com

Executive Assistants

3.28 A Virgin Australia Beyond Member may nominate one executive or personal assistant who will be provided with Velocity Frequent Flyer Gold membership. Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s can make this nomination by contacting Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre. However, the executive or personal assistant will need to meet the standard criteria listed in the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions to maintain Gold Status. In the event a Virgin Australia Beyond Member wishes to remove or amend their executive or personal assistant’s details, written notice must be provided to Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre. This benefit does not extend to Partner Members and their executive or personal assistants.

3.29. The provision of Velocity Frequent Flyer Gold membership to executive and personal assistants under clause 3.28 is subject to the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions.

4. YOUR OBLIGATIONS

4.1. Members must act fairly and reasonably in all matters connected with your membership of Virgin Australia Beyond. This obligation includes that Members:

4.1.1. must not give us any incorrect or incomplete information in connection with their  Membership;

4.1.2. will not in any way sell, barter, attempt to transfer or otherwise deal with any benefits (including Points, Status Credits and Rewards) connected with the Membership (other than in accordance with these terms and conditions) and not otherwise abuse or misuse any benefits afforded to you as a Member;

4.1.3. not engage in conduct which is unlawful or illegal, or which brings Virgin Australia Beyond, Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre, Velocity Frequent Flyer, Virgin Australia or partner of Virgin Australia or Velocity Frequent Flyer into disrepute, or engage in conduct which is in breach of these Terms and Conditions and any other terms and conditions governing Rewards or benefits associated with your Membership;

4.1.4. must tell us if any details we have recorded concerning the Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s or Partner Member’s change, as soon as practicable after the change. The Virgin Australia Beyond Member must do this in the manner set out on the Velocity Website or by calling Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre. Before recording any change, the Virgin Australia Beyond Member must give us any written proof reasonably requested by us in order to verify the change;

4.1.5. agree that producing your Membership Card or quoting your Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Number and password may be required as a precondition of any activity which may result in your claim to Points, Status Credits, Rewards or other benefits; and

4.1.6. must ensure Member’s Authorised Representative/s deal with the Member’s Membership and Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Account in accordance with these Terms and Conditions; and

4.1.7. be respectful to all Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer staff members, other Virgin Australia Beyond Members and other Virgin Australia guests.

5. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

General

5.1. Members must be members of the Velocity Frequent Flyer Program.

Upgrade Using Points

5.2. All Members are entitled to redeem Points for seat upgrades to Business Class on Virgin Australia domestic and Virgin Australia international short haul flights, when a Flex or Choice Fare is purchased (Upgrade Using Points).

5.3. An Upgrade Using Points can be redeemed by a member of Virgin Australia Beyond for their own use or for the use of another Velocity Member.

5.4. The Points used to redeem an Upgrade Using Points will be deducted from the Member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Account at the time of the upgrade.

5.5. An Upgrade Using Points is subject to the availability of seats assigned for upgrades on Virgin Australia domestic and Virgin Australia international short haul flights.

5.6. Upgrade Using Points can be redeemed by calling Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre no later than 24 hours prior to the desired time of departure.

5.7. Full catering may not be assured for upgrades requested within 4 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure.

5.8. If the Member make any changes or cancellations to the Member’s flight after the Member has redeemed an Upgrade Using Points, any difference in Points owing to the Member will be refunded to the Member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Account.

5.9. Members will earn Status Credits and Points based on the original fare class booked for flights where an Upgrade Using Points has been redeemed.

5.10. Upgrades Using Points are not available on domestic flights booked as part of an international itinerary.

Fly Ahead or Fly Later

5.11. Members with a confirmed booking for a Virgin Australia marketed and operated domestic flight (excluding Economy Lite fares) who arrive at the airport in time for an earlier flight than their booked flight, can request that they and up to 3 accompanying guests on the same booking, be carried on that earlier flight (Fly Ahead). Members with a confirmed booking for a Virgin Australia marketed and operated domestic flight (excluding Economy Lite fares) who ask to be carried on a later flight on the date of the ticketed domestic Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight, can request that they and up to 3 accompanying guests on the same booking, be carried on that later flight provided the request is made at least one hour prior to the time of departure of the ticketed domestic Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight (Fly Later). For the avoidance of doubt:

5.11.1 Fly Ahead is  only available for an earlier Virgin Australia domestic flight on the same date of the ticketed domestic Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight;

5.11.2 Fly Later is only available for a later Virgin Australia domestic flight on the same date of the ticketed domestic Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight, subject to seat availability; and

5.11.3 Fly Ahead and Fly Later flights are subject to availability, and this is controlled by Virgin Australia. While an earlier flight may have seats available for sale, these may not be available for Fly Ahead and Fly Later flights

5.12. The requests for Fly Ahead or Fly Later can be made through the Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre team or a Virgin Australia staff member at the Virgin Australia domestic airport. Fulfilment of your request is not guaranteed and is subject to the following conditions:

5.12.1. the Member and the accompanying guest are booked on a Choice, Flex or Business fare and there is available seating in the original cabin;

5.12.2. the accompanying guest(s) (if applicable) must hold confirmed seats on the same Virgin Australia marketed and operated domestic flight and be travelling to the same place in the same booking at the Member;;  

5.12.3. Fly Ahead or Fly Later requests must be made at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure while the flight is still open for check-in. The Member and guest(s) can only carry hand luggage. Catering is not guaranteed on the Flight Ahead or Fly Later flight;

5.12.4. Seats must be available in the same cabin as the cabin originally purchased by the member, on the eligible Fly Ahead or Fly Later flight. For Members traveling in Business Class Fly Ahead or Fly Later will only be granted if there is available seating;

5.12.5. Routing changes to the Flight Ahead or Fly Later flight are not permitted and must remain as a single flight sector;

5.12.6. No guests on the earlier Virgin Australia domestic flight will be displaced to accommodate a request;

5.12.7 If the request is granted and you and your accompanying guests (if applicable) are moved to an earlier or later Virgin Australia domestic flight in a lower fare class (including lower cabin class) than what you originally purchased), you won’t receive a refund of any fare difference (unless you are entitled to a refund under the Australian Consumer Law); and

5.12.8. Members booked on an Economy Lite fare type are subject to the Virgin Australia Fare Rules and are not eligible to request Fly Ahead or Fly Later.    

Guaranteed Reward Seats for an Annual Family Trip

5.13. Members will be guaranteed Flight Reward seat availability for one booking per Benefit Period for up to four guests on:

5.13.1. Virgin Australia domestic Economy Reward Class return flights, excluding flights to Cocos Island and Christmas Island; or

5.13.2. Economy Reward Class return flights departing from Australia (or from New Zealand if you are a New Zealand based Member) to any international destination operated by Virgin Australia, in each Benefit Period (Guaranteed Reward Seats for an Annual Family Trip).

5.14. The Member must be included and travelling in the booking for the Guaranteed Reward Seats for an Annual Family Trip.

5.15. Before the Guaranteed Reward Seats for an Annual Family Trip can be redeemed, the Member must attempt to book the desired Economy Reward Class flights through the Velocity Frequent Flyer website.

5.16. If the Member is unable to find the Economy Reward Class flights, the Member can call the Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre to redeem your Guaranteed Reward Seats for an Annual Family Trip.

5.17. The request for Guaranteed Reward Seats for an Annual Family Trip on domestic flights must:

5.17.1. be made at least three months prior to the desired date of departure; and

5.17.2. allow for a three-day booking window for each flight (one day either side of the desired departure and return dates).

5.18. If a Member chooses to redeem Guaranteed Reward Seats for an Annual Family Trip on an international flight, the Member may call Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre to request a booking.

The following conditions apply to a request by the Member under this clause 5.18:

5.18.1. The request must:

(a) include the desired departure and return dates, destination and number of guests travelling;

(b) be made at least three months prior to the desired date of departure; and

(c) allow for a seven-day booking window for each flight (three days either side of the desired departure and return dates).

5.18.2. The airline and flight will be chosen at Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre’s discretion.

5.18.3. If there is no direct flight available from the Virgin Australia Beyond Member's desired airport of departure in Australia, we may offer to fly the Virgin Australia Beyond member and their travelling guests to a more suitable Australian airport for departure, at our expense.

Priority Economy Seat Purchase

5.19. If there are no available seats for sale online in the Economy cabin on a Virgin Australia flight, Members may be able to purchase up to two Full Economy Flex fare seats on that flight (must be full Economy fare / ‘Y’ class) (‘Priority Economy Seat Purchase’), subject to these rules:

5.19.1 the Member must be included in the Priority Economy Seat booking and must travel on the flight.

5.19.2 The Priority Economy Seat booking must be made by calling the Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre no later than 60 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and no later than 90 minutes prior to departure for international flights. The booking can’t be made at any airport service desk or through the Velocity website.

5.19.3 This benefit may be restricted without prior notice e.g. for certain routes or under special circumstances (including natural disasters).

Complimentary Fare Upgrades

5.24. In each Benefit Period, Members are entitled to 4 Complimentary Fare Upgrades when offered 12 months of Virgin Australia Beyond membership or 2 Complimentary Fare Upgrades when offered Pilot Membership. Complimentary Fare Upgrades can be redeemed to upgrade from a Choice fare or Flex fare to a Business Class fare on Virgin Australia marketed and operated domestic and international short haul sectors (excluding Christmas Island and Cocos Island) (Complimentary Fare Upgrade).

5.25. Complimentary Fare Upgrades can be redeemed by calling the Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre, either at the time of booking or no later than 2 hours prior to scheduled flight departure, or at the Virgin Australia Lounge or the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled flight departure time, to upgrade an existing booking.

5.26. Complimentary Fare Upgrades will expire if not redeemed. The travel dates for Complimentary Fare Upgrade flights are not required to be within the current Benefit Period.

5.27. Members may choose to redeem a Complimentary Fare Upgrade for a guest who is travelling with them on the same flight.

5.28. Complimentary Fare Upgrades are subject to the availability of seats assigned for upgrades by Virgin Australia. Some flights may have no upgrades available.

5.29. Members will earn Status Credits and Points for Complimentary Fare Upgrade flights based on the original fare class booked.

Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge

5.30. Access and use of the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge is subject to the remaining clauses in this section 5 and the Virgin Australia Lounge Terms and Conditions. To the extent of any inconsistencies between the clauses in this section 5 and the Virgin Australia Lounge Terms and Conditions, the clauses in this section 5 will prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.

5.31. Members are entitled to access a Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge, during operating hours, in airports where this service is provided if they are travelling on a Virgin Australia domestic flight departing on the same day or a Virgin Australia international short haul flight departing on the same day. 5.32. Virgin Australia Beyond Members and Partner Members are permitted to bring their children up to the age of 18 and 2 Invited Guests each into the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge. In the event that Virgin Australia Beyond Members and Partner Members access the Virgin Australia Lounge, they will receive the Velocity Platinum Member complimentary allowance access for Invited Guests (3 guests) as set out in clause 5.5(g) of the Lounge Terms and Conditions.  

5.33. Virgin Australia Beyond Lounges will open one hour prior to first Virgin Australia departure of the day and close at the time of the last Virgin Australia departure.

5.34. Where a Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge is not available, Members are permitted to access the Lounge in accordance with the Lounge benefits provided to Platinum members of Velocity Frequent Flyer.

5.35. Members will have Platinum Velocity Frequent Flyer lounge access benefits to our Associated Lounges (where applicable). Check the Virgin Australia website for more information.

5.36. Access to Associated Lounges is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable lounge. Please refer to the website of the Associated Lounge for more information https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/travel-info/at-the-airport/lounge/international/ for further details.

Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge Facilities and Services

5.37 It is important to understand that the services, facilities and benefits of the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge may change over time.

5.38 Subject to clause 5.39, Virgin Australia, acting reasonably, reserves the right to withdraw, cancel, vary or change in any way the services and facilities offered or advertised as available to any Occupant by virtue of their Membership or of their access or entry to the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge under these Terms and Conditions.

5.39 Virgin Australia will use reasonable endeavours to advise Members of any material changes to the services or facilities offered or available to you in connection with your access, or entry to, the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge using the email address recorded in the Member’s (and / or Partner Member’s) Velocity Accounts.  

5.40 Access to computer facilities and the internet may be available in the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge and is subject to availability. Virgin Australia does not represent or warrant that the computer facilities or internet access offered through the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge are free from computer viruses or other defects. To the extent permitted by law, Virgin Australia is not liable for:

5.40.1 any third party content on the internet that Members may find offensive, upsetting, or defamatory. Members are responsible for maintaining the security of all log-in identification information made available to you to access the internet or computer facilities in the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge.

5.40.2 Any security breaches suffered by Members when using the internet, including personal or information security breaches, and is not liable for any Loss suffered as a result of the unavailability of the internet or computer facilities, including interruptions during use.

5.41. Meeting rooms may be available in the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge, subject to availability and payment of the applicable meeting room booking fee. The applicable fee will be that quoted at the time of booking. Meeting room reservations can be booked by phoning the Virgin Australia Beyond Priority Service Centre or by contacting Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge staff at reception.

5.42. Lounge Guests accessing the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge shall not make any audio recording or copy of the music play-lists broadcast within the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge.  Any such content must be deleted upon reasonable request by Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge staff.

Access to the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge

General

5.43. Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge operating hours may vary without notice.

5.44. Access to the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge and its services and facilities is subject to availability, and may be unavailable, restricted, limited or withdrawn at any time for capacity or operational reasons. Access to the Lounge is subject to the Virgin Australia Lounge Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions that apply to Lounge access are those in force at the time of entry to the Lounge.

5.45. Subject to applicable Laws, Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge staff may, refuse entry to any individual or require an Occupant to immediately leave the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge, at any time if, in their reasonable opinion, the Member has not or will not comply with these Terms and Conditions or the Virgin Australia Lounge Terms and Conditions. .

5.46. All Lounge Guests must:

5.46.1 use the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge and its services and facilities appropriately and safely at all times.

5.46.2 Drink responsibly within the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge.

5.46.3 Unless permitted for takeaway as indicated in the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge, consumer all food and beverages made available in the Virgin Australia Beyond within the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge.

5.46.4 Take responsibility for their belongings when inside the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge.

5.46.5 Comply with smart casual dress standards at all times.

5.47. All guests aged under 18 years:

5.47.1. must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge; and

5.47.2 are not permitted to access alcohol from the self-service bar.

5.48. Lounge Guests are responsible for ensuring their arrival at the domestic boarding gate for their departing flight at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time for their flight.

5.49 Lounge Guests must be accompanied by Members at all times and depart with Members.

Access on arrival

5.50 Subject to space availability, Members and their Invited Guests may access the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge if available in their arrival port immediately upon arrival with a Virgin Australia itinerary or boarding pass that is eligible for the day of travel. The use of the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge in the destination port is available to these Members and Invited Guests for up to 60 minutes immediately after their flight arrival.

Access on departure

5.51 Members and their Invited Guests may access the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge in the relevant departure port with a Virgin Australia itinerary or boarding pass that is eligible for the day of travel.

Identification requirements

5.52 In order to access Virgin Australia Beyond, Members and their guests must provide at the reception desk of the Lounge on the day of their departure:

5.52.1. their itinerary or boarding pass for onward travel on an Eligible Flight;

5.52.2. their Membership Card, digital or physical, or Membership number (whichever is applicable); and

5.52.3. satisfactory proof of identity (e.g., a driver's licence).

Invited Guest access

5.53 Invited Guest access to the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge is subject to space availability at all times, and may not be available during peak periods and high-capacity utilisation of Virgin Australia Beyond Lounges.

5.54 Invited Guests must be accompanied by a Member who is travelling on a departing Virgin Australia flight, at all times while in the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge, but need not be travelling when utilising the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounges. For International departures, Invited Guests must be departing on the same departing flight as the Member. Members are responsible for ensuring that Invited Guests comply with these Terms and Conditions.

5.55 Additional Invited Guests exceeding the limit of a Member’s complimentary allowance outlined in clause 5.32 will not be permitted entry in Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge. Children of a Member under the age of 18 for Domestic Flights, are not considered to be Invited Guests for the purpose of this clause and may enter the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge when accompanied by the Member.

5.56 Subject to all other Terms and Conditions, a Member may bring the following number of Invited Guests into the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge or the Lounge:

5.56.1 When travelling on a Virgin Australia Domestic Flight departing on the same day, a Member can bring 2 Invited Guests; and

5.56.2 When travelling on an international Flight departing on the same day, the number of children or Invited Guests that can accompany a Member to Associated Lounges is governed by the terms and conditions of the Associated Lounge Provider and may change from time to time. 5.57 Any additional guests above the limit will be denied entry unless pre-approved from Lounge Leaders on an exceptions basis

6. Limitation of Liability

6.1. These Terms and Conditions (as amended from time to time) together with the Lounge Terms and Conditions and the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions set out the entire agreement with you regarding your Membership and entry to and use of the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge. However, nothing limits our liability for representations or other communications (either written or oral) made by Virgin Australia where such liability cannot be excluded by law.

6.2. Except where we have specified in these Terms and Conditions or where the law does not permit us to limit or exclude our liability, whether under the Australian Consumer Law or otherwise, we exclude our liability for:

6.2.1. Any Loss you incur as a result of, or in connection with, your Membership, your access to the Virgin Australia Beyond Lounge, or these Terms and Conditions, whether the same arose from negligence, breach of contract or otherwise, and regardless of whether we have any control over circumstances giving rise to the claim or not; and  

6.2.2. any Loss suffered in relation to the supply of goods or services by third parties.

6.3. To the extent permitted by law, Virgin Australia will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which you or anyone else may suffer in relation to the supply of goods or services by third parties.

7. Privacy & Marketing

7.1 Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer are collecting Members personal information to provide Members with their Membership, operate and improve the Virgin Australia Beyond program, and provide or arrange Membership benefits and any other products and services Members have requested. We may also collect personal information about Virgin Australia Beyond Member’s executive assistant, Invited Guests and any other third parties who interact with us on your behalf, use your Membership benefits or whose personal information you otherwise provide to us. Where you have authorised someone to act on your behalf, we may collect your personal information from and share it with that person. The Virgin Australia Privacy Policy outlines how Virgin Australia will collect, use and share personal information, including any overseas disclosures. The Velocity Frequent Flyer Privacy Policy outlines how Velocity Frequent Flyer will collect, use and share personal information, including any overseas disclosures. Members can also find details in the respective Privacy Policies about how to make an access or correction request, or how to make a privacy complaint.   

7.2 If Members don’t provide us with some minimum details, such as their name and contact details, we will not be able to provide Membership or provide Members or others nominated by with Membership benefits.

7.3 Before providing personal information to us about any other person, Members must ensure that they make that person aware of the disclosure of their personal information to Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer for the purposes outlined in clause 7.1 and that their personal information will be handled in accordance with the Virgin Australia Privacy Policy and Velocity Frequent Flyer Privacy Policy. You must also obtain the person’s consent for us to collect and handle any sensitive information about them that you provide to us (if any), such as dietary requirements or special assistance requirements, to allow us to provide or arrange the Membership benefits and any other products and services that you have requested.

7.4 Unless Members have opted out, Members have provided your consent to receive direct marketing and promotional materials as set out in clause 1.2 of the Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions and the Velocity Frequent Flyer Privacy Policy.  Members can opt out of direct marketing at any time by using the “unsubscribe” facility in our electronic messages or by managing your contact preferences through Member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer account when logged in or by contacting the Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Contact Centre. After opting out, Members will continue to receive important service-based messages from Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer about Virgin Australia Beyond and your Membership, and, if Members only opt out from some channels, direct marketing may still be sent or displayed via alternative channels (e.g., opting out of email marketing will not block SMS text message marketing or targeted online advertising). Members can read more about our marketing practices in the Velocity Frequent Flyer Privacy Policy, including how to manage their marketing communications preferences.

8. General

8.1 These terms and conditions are governed by, and will be construed in accordance with, the law in force in the State of Queensland, Australia and Members agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of courts of that State.

8.2 If any provision in these terms and conditions is void or unenforceable, that provision shall be read down to the extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable and, to the extent that it cannot be so read down, shall be deemed to be severed from this Agreement.
