Australia's first frequent flyer program for Pets

Velocity Frequent Flyer, the award-winning loyalty program of Virgin Australia today launched Australia’s first frequent flyer program for pets.

Breaking new ground in the loyalty space, from today, Velocity members can now earn 300 Points each time their dog or cat flies on Virgin Australia’s expansive domestic network. Silver, Gold and Platinum members will also receive a special Points bonus.

Building on the program’s unique family benefits, today’s announcement makes Velocity the only frequent flyer program in Australia to recognise and reward four legged members of the family.

Velocity Frequent Flyer Chief Executive Officer Neil Thompson was today joined by celebrity vet and animal lover, Dr Chris Brown to launch this airline innovation.

“Virgin Australia flies almost 30,000 pets each year around Australia, and a large proportion are owned by Velocity members, so we know how important their companions are to them.

“We are delighted to make their flying experience even more rewarding by unleashing Australia’s first frequent flyer program for pets, giving our members another truly unique way to earn Points.

“The program builds on the unique family benefits currently available to our members, such as the ability to pool Points and Status Credits with family members.

We will continue to come up with creative and compelling ways to deliver meaningful rewards and recognition to our members”, Mr Thompson said.

Dr. Chris Brown said: “It’s fantastic to see a frequent flyer program recognise how much pets enrich our lives. Now, not only will our dogs and cats give back to us in the form of unconditional love, but also in the form of our next holiday or retail purchase through Points!”.

Velocity Frequent Flyer today also launched a nation-wide search to find an official pet ambassador for the program. Over the coming 4 weeks, Australians are invited to enter their cat or dog into the competition via Facebook. Visit Velocity Frequent Flyer’s Facebook page for instructions. The chosen pet will receive the title of ‘Velocity Pet Ambassador’, will be featured in future Velocity marketing campaigns and will receive a Velocity Pet Gift Pack.

To celebrate the launch of the program, from today, members will also be to earn double Points on purchases made at Online Pet Accessories, Pet Smart and The Vet Shed via the Velocity Global eStore.

Terms and Conditions:

The 300 Points apply when you travel and fly with your Dog or Cat on a domestic Virgin Australia flight and add your Velocity number to the booking. Points earn is based on each Pet Cage fee purchased, up to a maximum of two pet cages per booking (subject to aircraft limitations). Velocity Points will be credited to the membership account of the member travelling with the pet within 14 days after completion of travel. Points offer does not apply to unaccompanied pets, service animals travelling in the aircraft cabin or for international flights. Pets will be carried in accordance with the Member Terms and Conditions.
