What are Status Credits?

Status Credits are earned every time you fly with Virgin Australia and our selected international airline partners, including; Etihad, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin America and Malaysia Airlines.

The more you fly, the further the distance and the higher the fare class, the more Status Credits you earn. Status Credits determine your level of membership within the program. Every Status Credit you earn moves you closer to a higher level of membership where you can enjoy greater benefits and rewards.

The table below shows the amount of Status Credits you will earn for your flights with Virgin Australia, V Australia, Pacific Blue, Polynesian Blue, Virgin America, Etihad Airways or Malaysia Airlines:

How is my Status Credit balance calculated?

Your Status Credit balance is calculated daily based on the number of Status Credits earned in the previous 12 months. Every Status Credit you earn is valid for 12 months and your Status Credit balance will not be reset to zero at your review date. To view your Status Credit balance, log in to your Velocity account.

Upgrading to the next level of membership

With our Daily Status Review, every day is an opportunity for you to upgrade to the next level of membership. Each day we will assess your Status Credit balance to determine whether you are eligible for an upgrade. You will be automatically upgraded to the next level of membership as soon as you have earned the required number of Status Credits. Remember, every Status Credit you earn is valid for 12 months.

Once you upgrade to the next level of membership, you will enjoy your new benefits for a 12 month period.

Maintaining your level of membership

Once you upgrade to a higher level of membership, you will have 12 months from the date of your upgrade to earn the required number of Status Credits to maintain your level of membership. The date on which you are assessed is called your Review Date.

The table below shows the number of Status Credits required to be earned by your Review Date to maintain your level of membership:

If you have not earned the required number of Status Credits to maintain your level of membership, you will move down to the next level of membership.

Remember, with the Daily Status Review, you are always one step closer to your next upgrade. You can upgrade again instantly when you achieve the required number of Status Credits.
