Activating your card
The Global Wallet® functionality on your new membership card will remain inactive until you choose to activate it. Once activated, it will work as reloadable Visa Prepaid card allowing you to load your own money and store it in multiple foreign currencies.
When you decide to activate Global Wallet® on your membership card, simply visit the Global Wallet® Account Centre and follow the activation process. Your username will be your Velocity membership number, and you will need to verify your identity and set up a password and PIN in order to begin using your card.
Every time you receive a new Velocity membership card with Global Wallet® functionality, you will need to activate it by logging in to your Global Wallet® Account Centre, even if you have activated a card in the past. You will not have to verify your identity again. Once your new card is activated, any available funds you may have in your Global Wallet® Account, can be accessed using this card.
The Global Wallet Account Centre
The Velocity Global Wallet® Account Centre is your Global Wallet® dashboard. Here you can:
- View your Account balance
- Move money between currency wallets
- View your transaction history
- Activate a replacement card
- Request a supplementary card
- Report a card lost or stolen
- Change your Account password and card PIN
- Find the Bank Transfer, BPAY® and POLi™ details to load money on your card
To access your Global Wallet® Account, visit velocityglobalwallet.com. You can log in using your Velocity membership number and the password you setup during your Global Wallet® Account activation.
Loading your card and moving money between currency wallets
Once your card has been activated, you can load Australian Dollars onto your Global Wallet® via any one of the three options below. Remember, you must have access to online or telephone banking with your financial institution.
Log in to your online Bank Account or via telephone banking and follow the prompts to make a Bank Transfer.
Enter your unique Bank Transfer details and the amount you wish to transfer. You can find your Bank Transfer details by logging into the Global Wallet® Account Centre and viewing the ‘Bank Transfer’ option on the ‘Add Money’ page.
Please note: Bank Transfer payments can take up to one business day to load into your Global Wallet® Account*. The maximum amount in a single load via Bank Transfer is AUD$25,000 (as long as it does not cause your Available Balance to exceed AUD$25,000).
* Your financial institution may charge transaction fees relating to Funds Credits loaded by this method. The time it takes for Funds Credits to become part of your Available Balance may vary based on your financial institution. When your transfer is made outside Australian (AEST): business hours, prior to or on a weekend or public holiday, it may take more than 1 working day (24 hours) for funds to become part of your Available Balance. The maximum amount in a single load via Bank Transfer is AUD$25,000 (as long as it does not cause your Available Balance to exceed AUD$25,000).
Log in to your online Bank Account or via telephone banking and follow the prompts to make a BPAY payment.
Enter the biller code 214932, your unique BPAY reference number and the amount you wish to load via BPAY. You can view this by logging into the Global Wallet® Account Centre and viewing the ‘BPAY’ option on the ‘Add Money’ page. Please note: BPAY payments can take up to three business days to load onto your Global Wallet®.
The maximum amount in a single load via BPAY is AUD$25,000 (as long as it does not cause your Available Balance to exceed AUD$25,000).
Log in to the Global Wallet® Account Centre and navigate to the ‘Add Money’ page.
Choose the POLi™ option and follow the instructions to load your chosen amount via your financial institution. Please note: POLi™ payments can take up to two business days to load onto your Global Wallet®. The maximum amount in a single load via POLi™ is AUD$1,000 (as long as it does not cause your Available Balance to exceed AUD$25,000).
Once you have loaded Australian Dollars into your Global Wallet®, you can transfer your funds into up to four foreign currency wallets.
You can have 5 currency wallets active at any time, one of which must be Australian Dollars. If you would like to add a new currency wallet, you will need to remove one of your active wallets. If the wallet you wish to remove has funds in it, you will be asked to move these funds to another active wallet before it can be removed.
Using your Global Wallet® to make purchases and ATM withdrawals
You can use your Global Wallet® to make purchases anywhere Visa is accepted.
To make an ATM withdrawal1 or a purchase using your card, simply press the ‘Credit’ button. For purchases under $100, just wave and go with Visa payWave at participating locations.
When making a purchase in a currency that is loaded on to your card, funds will be deducted from the currency wallet you are transacting in. If at any time there are insufficient funds in the currency wallet you are transacting in, your Global Wallet® will draw from other currency wallets to complete the purchase2. The order in which funds will be used is as per the order your currency wallets are listed in your Global Wallet Account. A foreign exchange fee will apply to these transactions.
When making a purchase in a currency that is not loaded on to your card, funds will again be deducted in the order your currency wallets are listed in your Global Wallet Account. A foreign exchange fee will apply to these transactions.
Global Wallet® App
To manage your money on the go, download the Global Wallet® App from the iTunes Store or from Google Play™. Using the App you can view your transaction history, monitor your Account balance and move money between currency wallets.
Lost or Stolen Cards
If your card is lost or stolen, you can cancel your card by calling 13 18 75 in Australia or +61 2 8667 5924 overseas and following the Global Wallet prompts. This cancellation will only apply to the card that you have contacted us about. If you have a supplementary card or virtual card, you will still be able to use this card to access your funds.
Emergency Cash Transfers
If your card is lost, stolen or damaged while you are travelling and you do not have access to a supplementary card, you can request an emergency cash transfer by calling 13 18 75 in Australia or
+61 2 8667 5924 when overseas and following the Global Wallet prompts. The amount of the emergency cash transfer (and the applicable fee) will be debited from your Available Balance as one transaction and therefore cannot exceed your Available Balance. The maximum amount of an emergency cash transfer is AU$3,000 per transaction per day.
It is not guaranteed that an emergency cash transfer will always be available. If this option is available, you will need to attend a nominated Western Union branch to verify your identity and collect your emergency cash.
